Stopping Smoking with Hypnotherapy

Stopping smoking with hypnosis is one of the most popular reasons that people contact a hypnotherapist.

According to recent news, the proportion of UK smokers is now the lowest recorded, at 17%. However recent reductions in this proportion reflect the move to e-cigarettes, replacing one dependency with another (albeit possibly healthier one).  We have come a long way since the 1970s, when the proportion of smokers was nearly 50%.

While many people have been successful in stopping smoking, the proportion of smokers has stayed fairly static, mainly because young people continue to take up smoking. In fact the 20-24 age group has the highest proportion of smokers.

Most people start smoking when very young, a time when you are making decisions based on incomplete or poorly understood information. You can make a much better choice now, to stop smoking with hypnosis.

You may have tried many times to stop smoking, or this may be your first attempt. Whichever of these is the case, you could have a chance to stop with hypnotherapy. Hypnosis for smoking cessation has been shown to be an effective way of helping you to stop.

In my own practice, I would help you to understand and analyse your own smoking behaviour, with a view to developing powerful ways of overcoming the compulsion to smoke.

Through the use of hypnosis I would facilitate communication with your unconscious mind which controls the smoking urge and help to develop strong resources and install an alternative program of behaviour.

I tackle smoking cessation hypnotherapy either as a single 2 hour session or as two 1 hour sessions, which ideally would be about 1 week apart. In the latter case, the second session is a reinforcement of the stop smoking program introduced in the first session.

I also teach self hypnosis techniques to help you stay stopped.
